Invisalign

Dr. Goodale is a Platinum Invisalign Provider located in Westchester County.

Invisalign is one of the newest, most popular ways to straighten out a person’s teeth. While traditional aligners utilize metal wires, brackets and bands, Invisalign uses clear aligners. These clear aligners are custom made to fit the individual’s teeth in order to slowly shift them over a span of months. They are virtually undetectable, easy to use and comfortable to wear.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a number of clear aligners that aid in straightening out a patient’s teeth. These aligners are made from high-grade plastic. They are expected to be worn about 22 hours out of the day, and are only taken out before meals. Once you have finished eating, the aligners are expected to be put back in. A patient may need Invisalign for anywhere from a few months up to 1 year. During this time, the patient can have anywhere from 15-30 different aligners.

Benefits to Invisalign?

They are invisible. While braces are rows of metal and colored bands, these trays are completely transparent.

Invisalign is easier to brush around. This is because there are no wires or brackets, just trays you take out. You brush and floss like you normally do.

They boost confidence. Many patients do not like the look of traditional braces because of the way that they attract attention and change a person’s appearance. With Invisalign®, nobody will even know you have them in!

They require fewer visits to the dentist. This is because there is no need for adjusting. Your new trays are sent directly to you, so your dentist only needs to take a look every once in a while to make sure that your teeth are shifting according to plan.
Invisalign® trays are more comfortable. These do not require constant tightening, and you can take them out to eat or brush. This makes everyday activities that much easier.

How does Invisalign Work?

Every 1-2 weeks, you will receive new Invisalign aligners. Each time you get a new set of aligners, they will be just a little different from the set previous. As you get further and further into your treatment plan, these aligners will shift your teeth more and more. The reason for such small adjustments is so that we are continually moving your teeth towards the goal of being straight, but doing it in a way that is comfortable for you.

Our Procedure

Before deciding whether or not Invisalign is right for you, you need to know the procedure. Below outlines our process, from start to finish:

Assessment. This includes assessing to see if the patient is a good candidate for Invisalign, or if braces would be a better choice.

Data. Once we have decided that Invisalign is the right dental treatment for you, we will collect x-rays and digital scan of your teeth. We will then send this information to Invisalign, with our plan of how to shift your teeth.

Creation. Invisalign will then begin to create your custom aligners.

Education. Once your aligners are ready, we will then explain to you how to use them. You will be receiving a new set of aligners every 1-2 weeks, which you are expected to wear all day every day, except for when eating or brushing/flossing your teeth.

Visits. You will then need to schedule visits with your dentist every 6-10 weeks for a simple checkup. We will ensure you are progressing as planned.
